Snuba Diving on Aruba

That's not a misspelling. I did write SNUBA diving. Do you want to know what snuba diving is? Snuba = Snorkeling + Scuba. You can see Aruba's underwater world without having to wear heavy scuba equipment. You get see all of Aruba's sea wonders.

To go snuba diving you don't have to get certified. There are only 4 people per guided tour group.
This activity is provided by De Palm Tours.

Cheap Places to Stay in Aruba

If you want to go to Aruba but you think you can't afford it, you are wrong. There are other places to stay in Aruba besides the major beach front resorts. You can stay in an Aruba apartment. They look like some of the low-rise hotels and are very nice. One in particular that I came across was the Sea Breeze Apartments. They have two types of rooms available and they are the studio room and the one bedroom Aruba apartment.

Rooms include the following:

bathroom
cable TV
radio
DVD
safe
kitchenette
blender
refrigerator
iron
hair dryer
microwave
free high speed internet

Check in time is at 2 p.m. and checkout is at 12 noon. You should probably know that these apartments do not have any ocean views, only garden views.

The apartments are located right on the Mangel Halto Beach, which is a great spot for diving and snorkeling. The Marina Pirata Restaurant is in walking distance from the apartments. The Brisas del Mar and Flying Fish Bones restaurants are a 3 minute drive away.

High Season Rates (December 15 - April 15)
$75/night Deluxe Studio & $90/night 1 bedroom apartment

Low Season Rates (April 16 - December 14)
$55/night Deluxe Studio & $70/night for 1 bedroom apartment

So if you wait until the low season then you can stay on Aruba for as low as $55/night which is very cheap.

Sightseeing in Aruba

There are so many sights to see while you are vacationing in Aruba. You can visit the Ostrich Farm, the Historic Gold Mills, Natural Bridge, ad Butterfly Farm. While we were on Aruba we saw the natural bridge, rock formations, and the California Lighthouse just to name a few. There is so much to see that you will have to make another trip to Aruba. On our jeep tour we traveled to the uninhabited coast of the island, where we experience a rough and bumpy ride. It was fun and amazing. We also went to see the caves. Beware of the bats! Just kidding.

Some other places you may want to see while you are there include:

The Bird Sanctuary
Arikok Park
Donkey Sanctuary
Natural Pool
Offshore Islands
Lourdes Grotto
The Caves and so much more.

Booking your Aruba day trips

Every hotel in Aruba has a concierge desk in the lobby on the main floor where you can book your day trips. Day trips in Aruba can cost anywhere from $20 – about $110. Most day trips include more than one activity. For example if you choose the bus full day tour, you get to take a tour of the island, go to baby beach, go snorkeling, and get an all you can eat lunch buffet.

There are tons of things to do on Aruba: para sailing, snorkeling, sailing on party boats, glass bottom boat trips, speeding around the island on jeep tours, kayaking, exploring caves, scuba diving, submarine boat rides, horseback riding, deep sea fishing, speed boating, sightseeing, and four wheel drive safaris.
There are tons of day trips go on. A family of 5 can spend up to $800 easy depending on how many day drips you go on.

One of the day trips that my children talked about going on was the De Palm Island bus tour which included the seatrek option. We all had fun being able to walk on the bottom of the sea floor looking at different underwater scenes. You have to definitely check this out!
Aruba is very much an exciting and fun destination.

Aruba with the family years later

A whole eight years later, we decided to go back with the children and my mother-in-law. And they loved it too! I am not surprised. Aruba is the perfect destination for families as well. We stayed at the Marriott Ocean Club in a villa that had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, living room, a dinning room area, and 2 balconies. There was plenty for the kids to do. They went swimming, on jeep tours, bus tours, snorkeling, and on the Sea Trek. It has been almost 2 years since they've been to Aruba and they talk about it still.

Great Aruba Restaurants

The first time I went to Aruba, I had two restaurants that I visited and they soon became my favorites. They were Twinkle Bones and The Driftwood.

Twinkle Bones had everything, great food and great entertainment. We ordered our food and while we waited there was non-stop singing and dancing going on. And at the end of the night, everyone danced around the restaurant in a conga line. I had an exciting and fun time. I didn't want the night to end. At closing everyone had an option to buy a video of the festivities. Unfortunately the Twinkle Bones restaurant has closed down down. Last I heard it is now a Thai restaurant. Oh well, I have my memories and my video.

I liked the Driftwood restaurant because of its fresh seafood. Every morning the owner would go fishing and come back with some of the freshest fish I've ever tasted. Their food was absolutely delicious. The Wahoo was my favorite.
And this was my first experience with Aruba's seafood and it was great.

Aruba, My First Love

The first time I traveled to an island, it was to Aruba, and I made the right choice. Ten years ago I fell in love with the most beautiful island ever. I can remember as I stepped off the plane taking in all the island air and thinking, wow, I can really have peace of mind here. My first night there my now husband and I sat at the pool in beach chairs and let the cool Aruba trade winds blow through us. We must have sat out there until 4 a.m. in the morning. I remember the island being filled with most nice people. They all said hello and smiled, something I was only use to when I went to visit my grandmother down south. I knew I would be back again soon.
